The new year brought many changes. New PKD codes are significant but have gone unnoticed by many businesses. Here is how the transition from PKD 2007 to PKD 2025 works, how to update your codes yourself and by when.
New PKD 2025 codes from 1 January: what do they mean?
The new Polish Classification of Activities took effect on 1 January 2025. Since then public registers use PKD 2025. The new codes better reflect current technological, social and market realities that changed over the past 18 years and, above all, EU-level revisions.
This mainly means anyone establishing a business after 1 January 2025 must choose only 2025 codes to describe its activity. PKD 2007 is no longer selectable.
Existing businesses continuing after that date have until 31 December 2026 to update their codes.
Failure brings no penalty; instead codes are automatically converted under a predetermined mapping, without a chance to tailor the selection personally.

Why update PKD codes yourself?
PKD codes describe business activities. Primarily statistical, some choices can have consequences, including affecting operations or triggering obligations such as cash-register use or active VAT registration.
Choose carefully and take charge of converting PKD 2007 codes to PKD 2025, avoiding unpleasant surprises from automatic conversion.
Doing so is not complicated.
How do you move from PKD 2007 to PKD 2025? Watch for mandatory updates!
Depending on whether the business is registered in CEIDG or KRS, file an application to amend the CEIDG or KRS entry. The procedure is similar. State what change is requested and which codes you wish to update. Online, through Biznes.gov.pl for CEIDG or S24 or the Court Registers Portal for KRS, choose PKD 2025 codes from the list of current codes. Each new code is accompanied by the nearest old PKD 2007 code.
CEIDG may require a code update automatically when you:
- Apply to suspend business;
- Apply to resume business;
- Apply to amend any CEIDG entry, even unrelated to business activity.
In all three cases, the system will not submit the application until codes are updated.
KRS changes do not face this obstacle: company data or status can be updated without mandatory PKD conversion.
