PIT filing for 2025 opened on 15 February. The standard deadline for submitting an annual return is 30 April. Although selected forms are accepted automatically, it is worth filing independently and making informed choices. This can help avoid errors and improve the chances of a genuine financial benefit (for example, through tax relief). The sooner you file, the sooner any tax refund may arrive.

The key rules and deadlines for taxpayers filing PIT for 2025 – the 2026 tax return

Personal income tax filing for the previous year became available on 15 February 2026. Returns can be filed continuously until 30 April. Until that date, we can check, approve and submit PIT returns for 2025.

At the end of 30 April, PIT-37 returns will be accepted automatically (returns for people who earned income in 2025 from employment contracts, civil-law contracts, and old-age or disability pensions), as will PIT-38 returns (concerning capital income).

Other returns, including PIT-28 (for lump-sum tax on recorded revenue), PIT-36 (for entrepreneurs whose business is taxed under the tax scale) and PIT-36L (for entrepreneurs choosing flat-rate income tax), will not be accepted automatically. These require the relevant forms to be completed and submitted.

Even for returns subject to automatic acceptance, it is worth filing independently. This can help avoid errors (for example, caused by incorrect data supplied by the withholding agent) and improve the chances of a genuine financial benefit from the return (by including reliefs the system will not recognise automatically).

Filing PIT in 2026 for the 2025 tax year – how to complete and submit a PIT return? The 2026 online guide – submitting a return step by step

For the eighth consecutive year, the Ministry of Finance and the National Revenue Administration have made the Your e-PIT service available. Although this is the easiest, most intuitive and fastest tool for filing a tax return, it is still possible to complete a paper PIT return and send it by post or submit it directly to the relevant tax office. However, the rest of this article focuses exclusively on electronic filing...

Here are the instructions for filing PIT online for 2025.

  1. Visit the e-Tax Office website and log in using your preferred method

Your e-PIT is available on the e-Tax Office website 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from 15 February to 30 April 2026.

You can choose from the following login methods:

  1. Select Your e-PIT

After logging in, select Your e-PIT from the displayed list of services.

  1. Select the correct form

In the “Submit PIT” tab, select the correct form.

  1. Select how you are filing, check the data and add any missing information

Indicate whether you are filing individually, jointly with your spouse, or as a single parent.

Then check the data already in the wizard and add further information if necessary. In particular, verify your personal details, sources of income and amounts of revenue, costs, contributions and advance payments. Also check the bank account number (needed for any tax refund) and the selected tax office.

  1. Tax reliefs and deductions

Do not forget reliefs and deductions! The wizard automatically suggests only selected ones, such as child relief, relief for people under 26, relief for families with four or more children, return relief and relief for working seniors.

Other tax reliefs and deductions (such as internet relief, thermal modernisation relief, rehabilitation relief, or deductions for donations to public benefit organisations, religious worship and blood donation) must be entered independently when filing in the system.

It is worth doing so, as this may bring a substantial financial benefit.

  1. 1.5% of tax for a public benefit organisation

You can also optionally allocate 1.5% of your income tax to a public benefit organisation of your choice. By default, the system suggests the organisation indicated in last year’s return, but you can easily select a different one.

  1. Save the changes, accept the return and submit it to the tax office

After checking all the data and editing or adding any missing information, all that remains is to approve the changes, accept the entire return and send it to the correctly selected tax office.

Finally, remember to download the UPO, the official confirmation of receipt. This document confirms submission of your PIT return for 2025.
